YEAR 3

Monday 26th February 2024

Welcome back to a new half term. Year 3 have continued to work hard and have enjoyed the topics covered last term.

They have really enjoyed starting to learn all about the locations of different rainforests and their position in relation to the equator. They have created a beautiful non-chronological report using researched facts about rainforests. We also had an exciting trip to a few rainforests using the VR headsets!

Our English unit on ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ book was a huge success and the children loved the hilarious moments within the book, like exploding dragon poo! We have finished our writing unit on this, but will continue to read the book in our guided reading sessions.

We are really exciting with our upcoming orchestra trip on Monday 18th March in London with the theme of heroes and villains! The children will be given a song to learn in preparation for the trip. We will share this on Edulink so they can continue to practise at home.

Monday 30th October 2023

Year 3 have had a brilliant first half term and have settled in very well to the new routines of Key Stage 2.

We have particularly enjoyed our writing unit on Fantastic Mr Fox and learning about the stone age, bronze age and the iron age in history.

The children were also very engaged with their science topic on rocks and it was lovely for the children to share their rocks and crystals from home and their knowledge on the topic.

In maths, we have focused on place value and mental strategies for addition and subtraction. We will be moving on to written methods this half term.

Monday 11th September 2023

Welcome back to a new year!

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back into school this term and get to know them all. They have all had a great start to Year 3 and have been getting used to the new uniform and structure to the day.

The children have been enjoying their varied timetable and enjoying their specialist teaching in music, art, P.E, and french. They have also been really excited to start their new topic of The Stone Age. We have been using our new class set of iPads everyday to support and extend the children's learning - this has been very exciting!

Please keep an eye out for any EduLink messages from us, where we will communicate any key dates or information you should be aware of.

A few reminders:

PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday.
The children must have a full PE kit with them on these days.

Children will receive homework on a Friday and will need to be handed in on a Thursday, using SeeSaw.
