Ofsted Inspection Reports
Ofsted Inspection – April 2026
We are delighted to share the results of our recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 21st and 22nd April 2026.

This was a full inspection under Ofsted’s new reporting system. This framework has moved away from a single overall grade (such as "Good" or "Outstanding") to a more detailed Report Card format. This change is designed to provide a clearer, more comprehensive picture of school life.
We are proud to report that Samuel Ryder Academy was judged to securely be at the 'Strong Standard' in 6 categories and the ‘Expected Standard’ in the remaining 2 categories. It is important to restate that the expected standard bar that is much higher than the previous 'good' grading.
Understanding the new 'Report Card' format
Under this new system, schools are graded across several key areas rather than being given a one-word summary. The new grading categories are:
- Exceptional – Practice that is truly sector leading, ranking among the best nationally, and recognised nationally which should be shared to inspire others.
- Strong Standard – Excellent, high-quality consistent provision that makes a real difference.
- Expected Standard – Provision that is recognised as high standard and quality.
- Needs Attention – Some aspects require improvement.
- Urgent Improvement – Significant weaknesses that require rapid action.
