The key worker group worked extremely hard this week. Today we focused on our dreams not just for ourselves but for others. The children discussed how their dreams might help others and there were some truly wonderful ideas. We look forward to sharing some of these next week.

Transition into Secondary

Latest news on Transition for Year 7 students this September here and our latest Transition Booklet for new Year 7 students can be found here.

Please click here to see FAQs.

Our aim is to make all of our new students feel welcome, safe and confident for their time at Samuel Ryder Academy, enjoying from the beginning what we hope will be some of the best years of their lives. As part of the induction process, a member of the Year 7 team will visit your child at their primary school in the summer term. This is a valuable opportunity for your child and the member of staff to familiarise themselves with each other, and for your child to ask any questions they may have about secondary school life.

Due to the latest Government guidelines we are unable to run our secondary transition day in the usual way this year, we will shortly be posting information about how this will be taking place online instead.  We have therefore created a transition booklet and a short transition video below to further support your son or daughter with their transition into secondary.

PGL Liddington Residential

This trip is organised each year as part of our induction programme to aid transition for students between primary and secondary school, helping them to bond with their peers and create new friendships. In the past this trip has proved to be a valuable and thoroughly enjoyable experience for the students.  More information on the centre can be found on the PGL website at: http://www.pgl.co.uk.

Tips to help you succeed.

Samuel Ryder Academy is a really fun place to be and there are many different ways that you can succeed.  Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Take a full and active role in all aspects of school life.
  • Listen and work hard in lessons.
  • Join lunchtime or after-school activities.
  • Do your homework to your full ability and hand it in on time.
  • Make sure you arrive at school on time and aim to achieve 100% attendance each year.
  • Challenge yourself each school year to learn a new hobby or get involved in a community project.

When we challenge ourselves to do things that we find difficult or scary it helps us to grow in confidence and to grow as a person.

At Samuel Ryder Academy there are lots of fun ways that you can challenge yourself and with this in mind, we encourage you to attend a minimum of three extracurricular clubs each term. Please refer to our current club timetable to see the types of activities we offer.

Life at Samuel Ryder Academy will allow you to not only reach your full potential but to aim even higher than that and you will have a great time doing it.
