Netball Academy: Saracens Mavericks Visit
Posted on 07/12/2023This evening, our Netball Academy squad were invited to attend a behind the scenes training session at the Saracens Mavericks training base.
The girls witnessed the squad debrief and data analysis sections as the Mavericks prepare for the start of the Super League. The head coach highlighted the training session plan and illuminated the “why” behind each devised section. The players were wonderful and posed for pictures. We then headed to the viewing balcony where we were able to watch the squad train and see how the theory was applied in practical terms.
Our host for the evening, Amelea Lancaster (Team Manager), also gave a talk outlining the structure of the organisation, the Super League format, challenges the squad face as semi-professionals and funding. She also explained what a typical match day looked like from a players perspective and then finished off with a careers brief on her journey to becoming Team Manager.
