French Residential - Year 7

Posted on 22/06/2023

Last weekend, our Year 7 students enjoyed their 4 day residential trip to France.

They travelled by ferry and the first stop was a trip to learn all about the art of chocolate making - très déliceux!

Next, it was a lesson in mayonnaise making where students competed to create the best batch! The students enjoyed a tour around Rue and trip to the market, learning lots of history about the town. Later they enjoyed an informative visit to the cow farm where they met and fed the cows followed by a workshop in making butter and the chance to try it. Team games, aero ball, scavenger hunt and a talent show were enjoyed in the evenings.

The group had a fantastic time at the beach the next morning - a highlight was when they buried Mr Di Gesaro in the sand! They even had the chance to order their ice creams en français! In the afternoon, students enjoyed their visit to the snail farm. Lots of them loved eating les escargots - some of them not so much!

The last activity of the trip was to a cookie factory. Students saw first-hand the traditional techniques, learnt how to make different types of cookies and even enjoyed a few samples!

It was a fantastic trip for all of the students; they practised their language skills, immersed themselves in French culture and, most importantly, had great fun!
