Trips
Students in all year groups have the opportunity to take part in a variety of trips from science exploration, to theatres and places of historical interest; alongside residential trips throughout Europe and the world including annual Languages and skiing trips.
In the primary phase in the last year Reception students have visited Shepreth Wildlife Park to attend mini-beast workshops and observe the animals, giving them an opportunity to consolidate their topic learning. Year 2 became Pond Detectives for the day where they were able to pond dip, identify the species caught and determine the pollution levels of the pond. Pollution Patrol included learning how to be scientists and use identification keys, as well as learning about some of the causes of pollution in our rivers and how to protect the local environment. Year 5 have visited Ingestre Hall, a two night residential Arts based trip consisting of courses on music, drama, visual art, radio, photography, animation and film making. All year groups within the primary phase have enjoyed their school trips which have supplemented their classroom learning, encouraged team building activities and seen the children rise to the challenges presented to them.
In the secondary phase there has also been a wealth of opportunities for both day and residential trips. In the last 12 months these have included a Year 7 day trip to Verulam Park to complete Geography field work and attend a workshop in the Cathedral. Enriching their understanding of topics covered in Geography, History and RE. Successful Netball and Rugby sports tours, two night residential trips, which were attended by Years 8 & Year 9 and Year 10 & Year 11. Languages trips have included Year 9 to Barcelona where they enjoyed a varied programme of activities during the day and the evening; as well as Year 10 who enjoyed a 7 night residential exchange, spending time in a Spanish school, visiting the local area and a trip to Madrid. Years 10/11 have enjoyed Duke of Edinburgh’s trips – even the walking and the camping! Years 8 to Year 11 are looking forward to the seven night ski trip planned for April 2022, this will give students the opportunity to enjoy winter sports during the Easter holidays.
