Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome

It is a great privilege to be the Headteacher of Samuel Ryder Academy and to welcome you to our website.

Samuel Ryder is an ambitious school which sets high expectations of staff and students alike, challenging and supporting everyone to be the best that they can be so that, by working hard together, we can achieve our goals.

As an all-through school, providing education from 4-19 on the same site, Samuel Ryder Academy is uniquely placed to ensure the best possible progression for its students as they move through the Key Stages, and to use the best educational practice from primary and secondary phases in order to address their needs at all levels.

Our vision is clear – all members of the Samuel Ryder community are set high and challenging academic and personal targets and goals; and they are given both the support and encouragement to succeed.  We are privileged as adults that the greatest gift we can give to our young people is a first class education to provide them with the “Education for a changing world” – to be the leaders of the future in our globally diverse and competitive world.

As a learning community, teaching and learning is at the heart of all we do and academic results are incredibly important. The progress that students make throughout their time at Samuel Ryder is outstanding and is testament to the commitment and dedication of both students and staff. Student leadership is a driving force within the school, and our young people are acquiring the skills and confidence to take their place in 21st century society and careers.

Our curriculum is innovative and relevant, with a great emphasis upon Maths, English, Science, Humanities and Languages, sitting alongside a promotion and love of the arts and creativity.  Our curriculum encourages student curiosity and creativity as these are important traits for modern society.

No matter what age a child joins Samuel Ryder, they will receive the support and care required to help them achieve standards of which they and the rest of the SRA community can be proud. Our pastoral and academic systems work together to ensure that they receive an education as personalised to their talents and needs as possible.

Our Academy is a school at the heart of its community, providing an outstanding educational experience for all its students. Our ethos is one of challenge, fulfilling potential and both creating and taking full advantage of a wide variety of educational opportunities. We are aiming to be at the cutting edge of educational innovation without losing sight of the traditional values that need to be the bedrock of any successful school.
