YEAR 2
February 2024
Welcome back Year Two! The days are getting longer and we are delighted that spring is on its way. There is much to look forward to this half term, including Book Week, World Book Day and our historical people dress up day.
In maths this half term, we are focusing on consolidating our learning of addition and subtraction, including solving missing number sentences. In English, we have read ‘The Snail and the Whale’ and we are going to be using our most impressive descriptive language to describe the different settings in the story. We have started our new topic in science which is all about living things and their habitats. We will be learning about MRS GREN and exploring what living things need to survive.
If you have any queries, please do come and speak to us at the classroom door or email us.
Many thanks for your continued support.

Happy New Year! We have been happy to welcome the children back to school after the holidays. They are certainly refreshed and ready for an exciting new term at school.
In maths this term, we will be learning about multiplication and division, as well as fractions. In English, we will be writing poetry using our senses and exploring fantasy stories.
We have started our new topic in history about notable famous people. The children are showing a lot of curiosity about the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements, such as monarchs, activists, athletes and explorers. We will celebrate this topic at the end of the spring term with a historical people dress up day. We will send out more information about this nearer the time.
If you have any queries, please do come and speak to us at the classroom door or email us.

We have had another busy and productive half term in Year Two. We are immensely proud of the children for their enthusiasm and positive attitudes towards their learning.
This half term the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Great Fire of London. We have explored how the fire started, how it spread and the changes that were made as a result of the fire. They have produced some wonderful pieces of work and we are excited to further our knowledge of this topic.
In the next half term, we will be focusing on addition and subtraction using base ten. In English, we are developing our writing by trying hard to remember to include adverbs and adjectives in our descriptive sentences. We are also extremely excited for the up-coming Great Fire of London day and visit from the local fire brigade.
Things to look out for:
Christingle visit to St Luke’s church letter
If you have any queries, please do come and speak to us at the classroom door or email us.
